There are varied reasons why students cheat during exam of making homework one of this is the fear of failing an exam, lack of knowledge, and risk taking. The majority of students think that if they fail many problems may occur such as parent鈥檚 complaints of bad grades, embarrassment from other people, and they think that the light of their future education will be harder.


Most students are stressed out for the fear of failing the exams. This frequently happens when students did not review that is why some students take the risk on cheating. Lack of knowledge is also the reason of cheating, some students find a particular subject too difficult and they can not cope with it, and once this happens they no longer become interested with the subject and this result to non participation. Lack of self-confidence is also a reason why they tend to cheat. Some students risk on cheating due to peer pressure or simply because they wanted to impress their friends so that they would look cool.


Another type of cheating in doing homework is plagiarism. Our new technology such as computers tend to make some students become very lazy, if students have homework they would simply search on the computer for instant answers by simply cutting and pasting someone else鈥檚 work without even acknowledging the work of that person. Plagiarism is also considered as another form of academic dishonesty. During the past 50 years, cheating has risen dramatically and because of the internet trend, plagiarized work among students became very rampant in different schools. The only reason why these students copy and paste someone else鈥檚 work is because they are too lazy to do their own research, and since answers are just a click away, and because they want to pass and complete their requirements, they would depend on the internet for answers. These students are very much concerned about their grades rather than their education.


How Should Educators Deal with Cheating?


Educators must first discuss the meaning of cheating and its related punishments. In order to eliminate this problem, educators must implement a stronger policy regarding cheating. Other ways to prevent cheating is to encourage every student to voice out their concerns or to approach subject teachers once they fail to understand the lesson. Teachers must make different strategies by making the class interactive by means of question and answer or simply encourage students to participate through graded recitations; this will also help teachers evaluate students whether or not they have understood the lesson.


The Response of Schools Regarding Cheating


I believe that the school鈥檚 response to cheating should not depend on the factors of how the work has been copied. If there would be different punishment, or if the punishment will be based depending on the grounds of how the work was copied, students would probably repeat committing the same act. In this sense, if the punishment is tolerable, students are most likely to repeat the action, whereas, if the punishment is all the same, students will be afraid or would refrain in committing those kinds of behaviors.


Cheating is also considered as stealing because you use or get someone else鈥檚 work without even asking for permission. The punishment for cheating is really serious, that is why students should avoid this kind of dishonest behavior.What type of essay is this? classification or division?
